Garden Ramble
Deering Center Garden Ramble, where neighbors share their gardens and yards with each other in a FREE, non-competitive (not a garden show!) casual stroll. A great way to get to know neighbors, meet new friends, share glimpses of our back (and front) yards, and share those extra seedlings you don’t have room for in your garden. The Garden Ramble rotates to different parts of the neighborhood every year, below is the map area for the 2026 Deering Center Garden Ramble.
Porchfest 2026
Our 12th Annual Deering Center Porchfest is on the horizon! Porchfest is a gift to and from our community. This annual event showcases 75+ musical performances throughout the neighborhood. Each year more than 500 individuals make this event happen through volunteering with logistics, performing, and hosting- it’s truly a community effort! Check out the guiding principles here.
Forms to sign up to be a Host, Performer, and Volunteer Ambassador will open May 5th:
Hosts are neighbors on Leonard, Richardson, Alba, Best, Brentwood, Bedell, Crosby, Hyde, Hamblet, New, Newman, Pleasant, one block of Mabel, and Leland (between Crosby and Alba) that offer their porch, driveway, or yard for an hour time slot for incredible performers.
Performers are community members that share their amazing musical talents with a roaming audience for a 30-60 minute time slot. Solo artists and group performances are welcome.
Volunteer Ambassadors are community members that volunteer for an hour time slot to support day-of efforts for Porchfest, ensuring a safe event for all by assisting with traffic monitoring, bands and their gear, and attendee questions.
Details will be shared with DCNA email list and on social media. Feel free to email any questions in the meantime to deeringcenterporchfest@gmail.com.
9th Annual Deering Center Winter Solstice Gathering
Details:
Walk the Solstice Spiral made of evergreen boughs and lit with candles. (Meditative walk, takes 5 - 10 minutes)
Casual gathering around the fire with friends & neighbors, bring a thermos with a hot beverage!
A table will be set up where people can write down what they want to release on this solstice, and what they want to welcome in. They then can put their paper in the fire.
Share the longest night of the year and welcome the return of light. All Welcome, for young and old alike!
Special Note:
🌀Quiet & Calm: The walking of the Solstice Spiral is a silent, meditative wandering. Please enjoy stepping into the peace of the darkness with us. (Kids are very, very welcome and good at this).
🔥Noisy & Wiggly: The Bonfire is not silent and balances out the quiet, introspective experience of the Spiral. Come chat with neighbors and friends around the fire (kids are very, very welcome and also good at this).
Please do not bring: Artificial lights or dog(s) into the Spiral.
